Catching up to energy efficiency

There are tougher seven-star energy efficiency standards for new Australian homes set to be approved within the year and we couldn’t be happier with the decision.

Our vision at Form Homes has always been to build high performance, energy efficient modular homes that will deliver cost savings for years to come.  To see tighter regulation means that all builders now need to respect the growing urgency of building more energy efficient homes.

We can look around the world (as well as in our own backyard) to see that we are facing an energy crisis. In Europe, there has been an alarming rise in the price of gas due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict causing household bills to skyrocket (over 500%) this year. Last quarter we saw the wholesale electricity and gas prices tripled in Australia’s main grid compared with a year ago, as failing coal-fired power plants and soaring global gas costs caused significant market disruptions.

What does that tell us?

Exactly what we’ve always believed. We don’t need more power stations and gas supplies. What we actually need is to:

  • Utilise the scarce energy we do have with homes that are more energy efficient and
  • Transition faster to renewable sources of energy

A FORM home utilises up to 60% less energy than a conventional home and stands to save you thousands of dollars in energy costs over the lifetime of your home.
